Chief Growth Officer Role Description

Remuneration: £118,750.00 per annum – excluding £3,000 London Weighting Allowance

Purpose

The Chief Growth Officer of the charity leads on generating income and building relationships, to bring us the talent, advocacy and resources we need to deliver our mission. They will lead on fundraising, school and trust partnerships, teacher recruitment, marketing and external relations. They develop our brand and value propositions, advocate for audience experiences, and operate account management processes which increase revenue and retain customers and partners. This includes donors, recruits, ambassadors, sector partners, corporate partners, and government.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the CEO and the Executive Team to realise our vision, set our strategy and provide professional and people leadership for the organisation; establish a culture and inspire confidence in the direction of Teach First.
  • Lead their division, convening people and getting them aligned, making sure all disciplines and departments strengthen each other.
  • Achieve annual revenue targets for the charity and developing the charity’s long-term income strategy, taking overall responsibility for growing revenue through new and existing channels and implementing robust sales management processes.
  • Coordinate our sales, revenue generating functions, and customer success teams to guarantee an effective end-to-end experience for our audiences.
  • Lead and expand all fundraising and revenue generating activities needed to sustain existing programmes and operations.
  • Achieve trainee recruitment objectives within the charity, with particular focus on increasing numbers, sustaining high quality and reducing cost-per-hire.
  • Determine go-to-market recruitment strategy and tactics, participant value proposition and providing overall direction for recruiting procedures based on best practices, systems and methods.
  • Market our work to our audiences, including both schools and trainees, ensuring that all mediums available are being utilised effectively, consistently and with the aim of increasing brand awareness and increasing audience awareness.
  • Manage and nurture relationships with our partners to ensure meaningful engagement with the Teach First mission.
  • Steward the Teach First brand and reputation; ensuring all communications promote a strong brand and reputation and achieves the desired engagement with all stakeholders.
  • Set and oversee our communications narrative and strategy, to ensure departmental resources are assigned to support organisational requirements (including trainee recruitment and programmatic marketing activities).
  • Lead policy development and engagement with the government and broader community to create demand for our work and to shape an environment in which people and schools serving disadvantaged communities can thrive and make a difference.
  • Support the CEO as a senior spokesperson for the charity at events and in the media and in key donor relationships.
