An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Senior Leadership Team and Executive Board at Morden College, an almshouse charity in South London providing independent living accommodation for older people, a small care home, and a range of care and community services.

Reporting to our new Chief Executive, the ideal candidate will be strong on service delivery and comfortable with innovation to lead and develop our Resident Services, Care and Health, and Impact and Development teams to deliver tangible outcomes that align to our charitable objectives. They will be part of developing our strategy, policies, proposals and plans, consulting with key stakeholders, and drawing on data and best practice. This role will be responsible for the delivery of our new strategy that will broaden the diversity of our beneficiary population to better reflect the ethnic diversity of our local communities and delivering impactful local outreach.

As Director of Resident Services & Charity Development, you will have overall responsibility for our resident-focussed work and play a significant role in the leadership and management of the charity. This will include supporting our Chief Executive to expand both our resident consultation and co-production and our charity’s reach working with older people through partnership development.

You will develop our Resident Services team, ensuring that our services are well-led and that we co-produce activities and services, and provide information that is clear and consistent to all our residents who live independently in our alms house accommodation.

You will be responsible for measuring our social impact, developing our Theory of Change, and overseeing a data-driven approach to your work. You will also grow and develop our approach to grant-making, enabling Morden College to have an impact on older people in the wider community in Blackheath and Beckenham.

Our Care Home and other care services are led by our Head of Care Quality and regulated by the CQC. As the Director with overall responsibility for this area of our work, you will be accountable for meeting the relevant statutory, legal and regulatory requirements (e.g. Care Quality Commission). You’ll be familiar with regulated services (not specifically CQC) and the need to deliver safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led services to vulnerable people. You will also provide support to the Head of Care Quality in our work to achieve a ‘Good’ CQC rating for our Care Home, and in then becoming an exemplar service provider and our ambition to secure and maintain an ‘Outstanding’ rating.
