Role Description

Annual Salary: In the region of £80,000, plus relocation costs if required.

Location: London. Candidates need to be based in the UK or be willing and able to relocate or to travel regularly to London.

Proposed starting date: Mid-September 2024

 

The Role

The new Executive Director will lead the Anglican Alliance global team working across the worldwide Anglican Communion. The role is based at the Anglican Communion Office in London, working with colleagues located throughout the world. While the team is small – currently 11 full and part time staff – the role involves relating to Anglican churches across the Communion, through a range of global and regional structures. As an Alliance, the organisation also convenes the various relief and development agencies based in churches globally. It also collaborates with ecumenical partners, such as the ACT Alliance, and with other actors in the humanitarian space.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic vision and leadership to advance the mission of the Anglican Alliance, fostering collaboration and shared learning across the Anglican Communion.
  2. Advocacy and Representation: Represent the Anglican Alliance globally, engaging with key stakeholders, governments, and international organizations to advocate for social and environmental justice.
  3. Partnership Development: Cultivate and strengthen relationships and partnerships with Anglican churches, agencies, and external organizations to enhance the impact of collective efforts in addressing global challenges.
  4. Thought Leadership: Work with others to help shape Anglican theological understanding of Mission with a vision of sustainable development for people and planet.
  5. Operational Oversight: Ensure effective management and implementation of programmes, maintaining high standards of accountability, transparency, and impact assessment.
  6. Team Leadership: Provide inspirational leadership to the Anglican Alliance team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
  7. Resource Mobilisation: Lead fundraising initiatives, securing financial support and resources to sustain the Anglican Alliance’s programmes and activities.
  8. Collaborative Leadership: Support the wider work of the Anglican Communion Office, as a Director in the ACO and a member of its Management Committee.
