- Significant and proven experience leading multi-function, multi-locational transformation programmes, with high complexity
- Leadership excellence, combined with highly tuned interpersonal, influencing and communication skills
- Effective management of stakeholder interests across a complex organisational structure
- Evidence of handling complex organisational issues, difficult situations and resistance to change with diplomacy and tact
- Strong analytical and numerical skills and a deep understanding of how cultural institutions work
- Strong financial acumen and commercial awareness
- Detailed understanding of change management strategies, techniques and programmes.
- Creative thinking and problem analysis
- Clear thinking and solutions focused with the ability to manage competing demands with specific deadlines, and make effective decisions whilst working under pressure
- High level written and communication skills to include a proven ability to write reports and policies
- Credibility and confidence working at senior levels in the organisation; comfortable working with Executive Group across the range of business functions
- Senior management experience of working in a complex, multi-site environment such as a not for profit, charity or arts sector organisation
- An understanding of the economic environment, constraints and opportunities facing a public museum or gallery
- Excellent understanding of the issues facing Tate, its culture and its aspirations
