Essential

  • Board-level experience, including service as a Chair, with a strong understanding of effective governance
  • Experience of working with or supporting a Chief Executive, including performance management, constructive challenge and strategic alignment
  • Demonstrable experience of setting and overseeing organisational strategy and monitoring delivery against objectives
  • Strong understanding of good governance in a charity or public interest context, including legal, fiduciary and regulatory responsibilities
  • Experience of operating at a senior level within a complex organisation, with accountability for strategy, performance and risk
  • Financial awareness, with the ability to interpret financial information and oversee budgets, income streams and long-term sustainability
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement at a senior level, including working with government, regulators, funders or sector partners
  • Understanding of, or ability to quickly grasp, the policy and operating environment relevant to road safety, transport, policing or public protection
  • Experience of leading through change, complexity or organisational growth
