Experience and skills
- A proven track record of success as a chief executive or equivalent, being fully accountable for a non-profit organisation and reporting to a board of trustees
- A strong understanding of the impact of inequality and discrimination in civil society organisations and work, and a track record in delivering inclusive and equitable practice
- Exceptional communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to inform, engage, and influence a wide range of audiences
- Good understanding of current policy issues affecting civil society and its leaders
- Understanding and experience of leadership development methodology and approaches
- Significant experience of building, shaping and motivating a team
- A deep understanding of civil society governance structures, and experience of working effectively with trustees and/or non-executive directors
- Significant partnership-building skills with the ability to establish and maintain credibility and strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders, and all our members across the UK, from small to medium and large charities
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
