Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the role of chief executive at ACEVO.

The past two years have shown us that ACEVO is needed more than ever, as a place where charity and social enterprise CEOs can connect and access the practical and emotional support they need to be the best leaders they can be.

Over the last five years, under the leadership of Vicky Browning, ACEVO has gone from strength to strength. Our membership has grown from 1,100 to nearly 1,700, with our member retention rate increasing from 64% to 84%. And after successive historic deficits the charity now has a robust business model, has delivered a surplus budget every year since 2017 and is in a strong cash position.

Through this time, ACEVO has built a community of civil society leaders who have permission to be honest, collaborative and humble leaders, ensuring activities are driven by impact not ego. We have driven forward critical discussions in the sector on equity, diversity and inclusion and on creating a safer sector. And we have valued and nurtured partnerships with our infrastructure sector peers.

We are excited to be embarking on a search to find our next chief executive, who can build on this platform and deliver our new strategy, supporting civil society leaders to make the biggest possible difference.

You will be a great people-person, able to nurture and inspire relationships with our membership and external stakeholders and build communities. You will bring energy and fun to the ACEVO network, and have a passionate and ambitious vision for the contribution of civil society. And you will have experience and insight into the unique challenges of being a CEO (or equivalent) in a civil society organisation.

This is a very exciting appointment for ACEVO and the sector, and we can’t wait to meet you.
