War Child is the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict. For over three decades we have been driven by a single goal: ensuring a safe future for every child living through war. We aim to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out and stay to support them through their recovery – keeping them safe, helping them learn and cope with their experiences and equipping them with skills for the future. We are part of the War Child Alliance, an international NGO which, in addition to delivering War Child’s vital work, is committed to the ongoing expansion of partnership models and placing power in the hands of local organisations and communities.
War Child UK has a unique and pioneering history of working within music, film, art, gaming and popular culture in general to inspire generosity and compassion for children living through war. This unique approach is exemplified by our annual Brits series of concerts and the huge success of our recent Help 2 LP – which continues our legacy of iconic musical partnerships. We also leverage our voice and influence to drive sector-wide advocacy. For example, we conceived and convened the multi-agency Red Line for Gaza campaign in 2025.
Despite the extremely challenging economic and political context of recent years, War Child has continued to grow rapidly both in terms of revenue and impact – attracting new partners, ambassadors and supporters to our cause. This is a wonderful opportunity for motivated individuals to bring their expertise, talent, and contacts to use in one of the UK’s most exciting and dynamic for-purpose organisations. The existing board is composed of expert practitioners from the fields of marketing, communications, finance, law, safeguarding, overseas development and policy.
