About Us

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber (RDaSH) NHS Foundation Trust employs over 3,400 talented people across our wide range of services and locations, who are very much appreciated, valued and respected.

We are passionate about looking at ways we can enhance the quality of our service and our culture and this is reflected in doing things the RDaSHWay.

At RDaSH we care about equality and diversity and hold a host of staff networks including black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) meetings, the disability and wellness network, and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, Q+ (LGBTQ+) network.

We currently provide services across the geographical footprint of Doncaster, Rotherham and North Lincolnshire, with coverage of over 650 square miles in total, and serve a population of around 735,000 people. The local areas are often referred to as ‘Places’. We also work across two wider systems defined as North Yorkshire and Humber Integrated Care System (which includes North Lincolnshire) and the South Yorkshire Integrated Care System (which includes Doncaster and Rotherham). Both ICS came into existence on 1 July 2022 with the aim of bringing together local organisations to redesign care and improve population health, creating shared leadership and action.

Each year around 155,000 people access RDaSH services, which operate in over 100 locations across Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire.

Forward Strategy

Whilst we responded to the pandemic, the Board agreed a refreshed Strategy for 2021-23 which contained a more streamlined set of ambitions and this strategy re-fresh outlines our aim to provide high quality care, drive innovation and deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients. Our strategy sets out how we intend to ensure that we provide safe, effective and compassionate care through a well-supported and developed workforce. The strategy recognises that the Trust needs to respond to these challenges within financially challenged times, with difficulties in recruiting and retaining staff, with staff who are exhausted and facing personal challenges and with evidence that improvements are required in the quality of care that we currently provide.  Our patients and carers are experiencing changes never seen before and are likely to see a deterioration in their physical and mental health condition, develop new health needs, experience wider inequalities and may struggle to access our services.

This is summarised in the chart below.

Looking forward, work will continue on these deliverables and the Trust is now starting to plan its strategic direction for 2023 onwards, taking into account changes in, amongst other things, the way health will be governed and organised, the increasing demand for services, and the financial challenges in future years.
