Welcome and thank you for your interest in Power to Change.

This is an exciting time to join us and work with a highly committed board and staff team to back and support those who run community businesses. We exist to help committed enterprising communities realise their own ambitions, take on assets such as buildings or public space, and manage these in a way that balances profit, purpose and planet. There are over 11,000 community businesses in England alone, and a strong interest from communities and policymakers in growing and strengthening this number as part of a fairer, more local economy.

Power to Change will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2025, a real milestone for an organisation that was initially envisaged as a time-limited, spend-down organisation. The changing context – Covid-19 and a cost of living squeeze putting pressure on community businesses and the services they offer to their communities – has led our Board of Trustees and many community businesses with whom we’ve engaged to conclude that ‘the job is not done’. This is why we are now working to a refreshed purpose: shaping the conditions for community business to thrive, working in partnership with others and alongside community businesses themselves.

Power to Change is a maturing and successful organisation. We have reshaped our organisation in recent times, around our refreshed purpose and a clear vision. We are now looking for a passionate leader to continue to shape the conditions that support us to do exceptional work and support community businesses.
