At Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, we see the full picture. We know that with the right support, people with hearing loss can live full, confident and connected lives. That’s why we focus on transforming lives through connection, companionship and confidence.
We address not just the practical challenges of hearing loss, but the emotional and social impact that so often goes unnoticed. Our work recognises a simple truth: hearing loss affects far more than hearing. It affects how people feel about themselves, how safe they feel in the world, and whether they believe they belong.
What We Do
At Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, everything we do is designed to help people live well with hearing loss. We transform the lives of people who are deaf or have hearing loss by rebuilding connection, companionship and confidence, through trained hearing dogs and practical and emotional support services
We do this by addressing not just the practical challenges of hearing loss, but the emotional and social impact that so often goes unseen. Our work recognises a simple truth: hearing loss affects far more than hearing. It affects how people feel about themselves, how safe they feel in the world, and whether they believe they still belong.
We have developed a unique model of support that places people, not just interventions, at the centre. Through highly trained hearing dogs, peer-led services, long-term partnership support and evidence-led innovation, we enable people to reconnect with the world around them.
We are the only organisation in the UK accredited to train and place hearing dogs for deaf people, and we are one of the few charities offering a truly holistic response to hearing loss, supporting people before, during, and beyond a dog partnership.

How We Help
Anyone, at any age, can begin to have issues with their hearing. Although technology like hearing aids can help, we know that the solution to living well with hearing loss is not one size fits all.
So, we empower each person who comes to us to find the solutions that work for them by:
- Creating carefully matched hearing dog partnerships.
- Providing emotional and practical support, information, and guidance.
- Collaborating with other organisations to improve policies, encourage best practice, and raise public awareness of deafness and hearing loss.
Achieving Our Mission
- We collaborate with the people we support, our volunteers and our staff to ensure our services are as helpful as possible, always shaped by the lived experience of deaf people and are continuously improving.
- Our peer-to-peer collaboration is always open, as we believe this is the most effective way to reach new people needing support and maximise our impact.
- We place the values of connection and companionship at the heart of our charity.
- We collaborate with other organisations to increase our shared impact in helping people with deafness and hearing loss.
- We are digitally enabled and make decisions based on data.
- We always value the trust our supporters place in us and so we carefully measure and evaluate the effectiveness of what we do.
