Skills and Experience
Essential
- Significant senior experience in health, data, digital, research or related public policy and regulatory environments.
- Expertise in the UK framework governing access to and use of confidential patient information, with a strong understanding of how the different legal, regulatory and governance mechanisms interact.
- Experience operating effectively across government, regulators and complex health-system stakeholders.
- Strong strategic judgement and ability to turn complex policy/regulatory issues into clear choices and recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading, developing or building a high-performing policy or regulatory team.
- Ability to operate credibly at Board, CEO and senior government level.
Desirable
- Experience of health data infrastructure, research, life sciences or NHS data.
- Understanding of AI policy and regulation and its implications for healthcare and health data.
- Experience developing policy positions, influencing government policy or securing regulatory change.
- Experience working across UK-wide health policy, including the different approaches of the four nations.
- Experience working with industry, academia, patient/public representatives and professional bodies.
