ELBA

ELBA is the leading social regeneration charity in east London. It facilitates corporate engagement and investment from over 70 business organisations into community programmes in east London, Islington, Southwark and beyond.

Our social goals are to promote social mobility, to eradicate poverty and fight inequality. We do so by bringing to bear the resources, ingenuity, goodwill and people power of the business sector on the most pressing issues facing the community. Each year over 12,000 people from business give back to the community through ELBA, directly benefitting just under 40,000 people.

Job Purpose

The Chief Executive’s (the CEO) key function is to promote, maintain and develop ELBA’s position as a leading social regeneration organisation in London, and one of the UK’s largest creators of employer supported volunteering. In this position the CEO will have the challenging task of creating the strategic direction for the organisation, while aligning the corporate community engagement priorities of our business partners with the needs of the local community. The CEO will lead a group of eight senior managers responsible for a full staff team of around 45, to deliver ELBA’s Community involvement, Education and Employment programmes. The CEO is also accountable to the Board for all aspects of ELBA’s two subsidiary companies, London Works and ELBA Works.

Working closely with the Board, the CEO will ensure financial probity, set the annual business plan and be accountable to the Board for its delivery, ensuring quality and impact. The CEO will lead the maintenance of effective relationships with our corporate partners and ensure ELBA is well connected to the community. The CEO is also the lead on all matters of charity and all other aspects of compliance and safeguarding.

The CEO will with the leadership team inspire and motivate the staff team, ensuring they deliver outcomes for both business and community partners and beneficiaries. The CEO will ensure staff have opportunity to learn, develop and progress. Through their own behaviour and leadership, the CEO will set the standards for the organisation.
