Salary: £140,000 circa
BFBS is now seeking a new CEO on the departure of Simon Bucks, who is retiring after seven highly successful years, which followed an earlier distinguished career in broadcasting.
Based at BFBS Headquarters at Chalfont Grove, Buckinghamshire, and working under the direction of the Board of Trustees, the CEO is responsible for the leadership of BFBS and the management of all its activities, for developing new business and for ensuring that the employees of the organisation work in line with the agreed strategy and with the ethos and values of BFBS. He or she will build strong relationships with key stakeholders, especially with the MoD, and will lead and inspire staff at all levels. The CEO is answerable to the Trustees for all aspects of the work of BFBS, including budget and staff management and the delivery of existing contracts.
The successful candidate will have significant business development and leadership experience. He or she will be able to demonstrate success in a senior role or roles which may be in any sector. Experience of broadcasting or empathy with the Armed Forces and the work of the MoD would be useful.
BFBS is looking for a dynamic leader who is a strong communicator, has demonstrable financial acumen, thinks strategically and can carry employees with him/her in carrying out the projects and delivering the services for which BFBS is responsible. An ability to engage with the military is essential and some travel, mainly but not exclusively within the UK, will be required.
