Welcome

At the Law Society, we have a rich history stretching back nearly 200 years to 1825. Throughout that time as the independent professional body for solicitors in England and Wales, we have worked hard to promote the value of the profession, protect the justice system and support our members.

Today, our 400 staff and 400-strong volunteer community work to serve our 200,000 members. It is an exciting time for us – now one year into an ambitious corporate strategy that will take us through to our 200th anniversary in 2025. There is much to be done – and the roles we are seeking to fill will all play crucial parts.

The breadth of what we do as an organisation means there are all kinds of reasons for wanting to work with the Law Society. One key motivation for us is our mission to ensure a strong, well-resourced legal system as a social good – and that seems more important by the day.

That reflects the essential role solicitors play in our economy and society at both a micro and macro level. This year we’re looking forward to continuing to promote the legal services sector as an economic powerhouse that benefits local communities and the country as a whole.

Our teams work relentlessly on all kinds of projects, both large and seemingly small, but all crucial to our members and achieving our ambitions. The scale and complexity of our work behind the scenes can surprise even us – despite the two of us having collectively been members of the Law Society for more than five decades!

It really is a privilege to work on so many fascinating issues, and to do so with so many passionate and motivated people across our staff and volunteer communities. Our greatest strength comes from the diversity of experience, expertise and skills of our people – all pulling together towards our collective goals. We are excited about what our new appointees will bring to our mission.

We wish you luck with your applications and look forward to working with the successful candidates to help achieve our ambitions in the future.
