Role Description – Senior Vice President

Role Overview

As Senior Vice President of RICS, you will play a central leadership role in shaping the Institution’s strategic direction, upholding professional standards, and strengthening engagement with members and other stakeholders across the surveying profession. Working closely with the President, President Elect, Governing Council and the Executive Team you will help define and deliver RICS’s global strategy while ensuring strong governance and fulfilment of the Institution’s Royal Charter obligations.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of Governing Council:

  • Strategic Leadership - Help shape, review and drive the strategic direction of RICS, ensuring it aligns with the Institution’s vision, values and long-term priorities, while responding to the evolving needs of members.
  • Governance – Contribute to providing oversight of RICS’ governance to ensure effective decision-making at the most senior level of the organisation, appropriate strategic risk management, high standards of professional conduct, ethics and governance are maintained and continuously strengthened.
  • Financial Governance - Contribute to the oversight of financial planning, budgeting and resource allocation, ensuring decisions support the Institution’s strategic objectives and deliver value for members.

As a member of the most senior ambassadorial team for RICS:

  • Stakeholder Engagement - Build and maintain strong relationships with industry leaders, policymakers, regulators and member groups to enhance RICS’s influence, reputation and impact, while ensuring members’ perspectives are represented.
  • Advocacy and Representation - Supporting the President in representing RICS at member events, conferences, industry events and public forums, acting as an informed and effective ambassador for the profession and the Institution.
  • Membership Growth and Value - Champion initiatives that enhance member value, support professional development, improve the member experience and contribute to sustainable membership growth.
  • Innovation and Future Readiness - Encourage innovation and forward thinking across the Institution to ensure RICS remains relevant and responsive to developments in the built and natural environment sectors.
  • Leadership Continuity – Support the President in delivering the responsibilities of the office.
  • Performance and Effectiveness – Support the President with annual reviews relating to Governing Council.
