Terms of Appointment

Time Commitment

The appointment follows a three-year leadership pathway. The successful candidate will serve as Senior Vice President for a one-year term commencing March 2027. Subject to satisfactory performance and continued eligibility, they will progress to President Elect on 1 January 2028 and subsequently assume the office of President on 1 January 2029.

The time commitment increases progressively throughout the three-year presidential pathway. As a Senior Vice President, the commitment is typically up to 20 days per year for Governing Council responsibilities, in addition to ambassadorial duties. As President Elect, this commitment can increase to approximately 50 days per year. During the presidential year, the requirement may rise to as much as 120 days annually. The time commitment remains under constant review.

The Senior Vice President will work alongside the other members of the Presidential Team to agree how responsibilities and duties are shared across the pathway.

Candidates should be confident that they can commit the time required to fulfil the responsibilities of each stage of the presidential pathway and represent RICS effectively at a national and international level.

Remuneration

The role of Senior Vice President is voluntary and does not attract remuneration. However, all reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of the role will be reimbursed in accordance with the RICS Expenses Policy.

In recognition of the increased responsibilities and time commitment associated with the progression of the presidential pathway, the roles of President Elect and President are remunerated.
