Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Chief Executive role at Reset Communities and Refugees.

As Chair of the Board of the Trustees, I am excited to offer the opportunity to a new CEO to continue our excellent work and to develop our work further.

Who are we? Reset was established in 2018 to grow the Community Sponsorship movement in the UK. We have since broadened the scope of our work to include other types of community-led welcome, enabling more groups and individuals to directly support refugees to reach safety in the UK. As a relatively small team of about twelve, we certainly punch above our weight and are united by a shared passion for our mission to empower groups and individuals to welcome refugees into their communities.   Through the government-backed Community Sponsorship scheme, so far, we have supported over 300 community groups  in welcoming over a thousand refugees into the UK.  Through our Homes for Ukraine matching service, we facilitated the matching of Ukrainian refugees to UK sponsors. Our Neighbours for Newcomers programme enabled communities to welcome refugee nurses recruited by the NHS. New arrivals often need help finding a job, accessing medical services and schools and finding somewhere to live. With our support, communities have offered new lives to people escaping violence, torture, war, and persecution, from Ukraine to Syria and Afghanistan.  Our highly regarded training provides support to equip local groups to help refugees to thrive and to integrate successfully into life in the UK. Our strength comes from the hundreds and hundreds of people who work together to prepare for new refugee arrivals.

We are currently funded through the Home Office and Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Political talk has raised questions about the welcome offered to refugees, but we want to diversify our income and to develop more ways to welcome refugees into the UK, especially when they bring with them the skills needed in this country. For example, our Neighbours for Newcomers scheme is when local volunteers welcome and support skilled healthcare workers forced to flee their home countries as they begin new careers in communities across the UK.

We are looking for a new Chief Executive who will be passionate about our purpose and will bring experience of delivering quality and value for money services in a government commissioned or commercial environment; exceptional partnership building experience; highly evolved networking and negotiating skills and a deeply held commitment to our mission. This might be someone who is yet to step into a CEO role.

The Trustees work closely with the Chief Executive, and have an open, supportive relationship as we work together to ensure that our committed and talented staff deliver for the good of the people we serve, both now and in the future.

If you are looking for a purposeful, challenging, and impactful role, then please read this Information Pack.   Within this pack and in conversation with Green Park, you will learn more about our work and what skill set and experience we are seeking in our new Chief Executive.
