Thank you very much for taking time to consider this opportunity to join the Board of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. We hope the information in the recruitment pack sets out clearly the Foundation’s vision and values.
In particular, We are looking for someone with significant finance and investment skills to join the relevant committees.
As you will see from the information, we are keen that the make-up of the Board better reflects the work and the communities we support. This means we particularly welcome applications from women; from people from Black, Asian and minoritised backgrounds; who are disabled; or who identify as a member of the LGBT+ community. Lived experience in one or more of our priority areas of work is also valuable. The current average age of our trustees is 60+, so we will also prioritise applications from individuals who are younger.
It is an exciting time for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Our exceptional team is motivated by the desire to make a real difference to people’s lives, and the Foundation has the resources to be ambitious. We refreshed our strategy in October 2020 and are now focused on its implementation, informed by the needs of the organisations and individuals we fund and their experiences of the last few years. The publication of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement in 2021 marked an important moment for the Foundation, making more visible our commitment to social justice and to becoming an anti-racist organisation.
The ideas, energy and experience of trustees is vital to the work of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and I hope that you feel as excited by the possibilities as I do. If you do, I look forward to receiving your application.
Best wishes,
Jane Hamlyn,
Chair
