Welcome and thank you for taking time to consider this opportunity to join Paul Hamlyn Foundation as our next Chief Executive. We hope the information in this recruitment pack sets out clearly the Foundation’s vision and values and gives you a flavour of what is involved in this important role.

It is an exciting time for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Our exceptional team is motivated by the desire to make a real difference to people’s lives, and the Foundation has the resources to be ambitious. We refreshed our strategy in October 2020 and are now focused on its implementation, informed by the needs of the organisations and individuals we fund and their experiences of the last few years. The publication of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement in 2021 marked an important moment for the Foundation, making more visible our commitment to social justice and to becoming an anti-racist organisation. We have recently relaunched our Arts and Migration funds to better reflect these commitments.

We are looking for an inspirational leader, adept at strategic thinking and with a passion for Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s work to join us and make a lasting difference. You will lead a team of fifty, mostly based in the UK but with some located in India and will play a key role in setting the ‘cultural tone’ of the organisation where people can feel supported but also challenged and enabled to thrive.

The Foundation is fortunate in having a committed and skilled Board of Trustees who the Chief Executive will work with closely in providing leadership and direction for the organisation. We are also privileged to have a substantial endowment worth about £900M and annual grantmaking of c£41m.
