As an Ormiston Trust trustee, you’ll play a vital role in shaping our charitable impact, while contributing your time and expertise to advance our mission. You’ll join a committed board to provide strategic leadership, ensure good governance, and support our vision of a world where every young person and their family have opportunities to thrive. Accountabilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Contribute to strategic planning and approve the charity’s annual budget and strategic plan.
- Ensure adherence to charitable objects and maintain effective financial management and risk frameworks.
- Support the CEO by providing strategic guidance while respecting operational independence.
- Participate in charity sub-committees as required.
Grant-making & Beneficiary Engagement
- Help identify organisations and individuals whose work aligns with our mission and could benefit from Trust support.
- From time to time visit projects around the country to meet young people and see the impact of our funded work.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adequate information and control systems to monitor whether objectives are met and policies followed.
- Review and approve Trust policies, legal compliance, and safeguarding procedures.
- Monitor investment performance and advise on investment manager appointments.
- Approve annual reports and accounts.
Board Effectiveness
- Attend four in person UK board meetings annually and read papers in advance.
- Contribute to informal correspondence and periodic board effectiveness reviews.
- Undertake additional reasonable responsibilities to support the Trust’s work and act as an ambassador to further the aims of the organisation.
