Person Specification – Member

  • Deep commitment to the Ormiston Trust’s vision and mission.
  • Significant leadership experience in education, enrichment activities, charity governance, finance, or strategic philanthropy.
  • High integrity, sound judgement, and willingness to challenge and support constructively.
  • Understanding of governance roles in multi-academy trusts and or charity structures.
  • Experience in reading and reviewing governance and performance papers, including accounts and strategy documentation.

Time Commitment (Up to 8 days a year)

  • Prepare for and attend the Annual General Meeting each year in person.
  • Participate in three circa 1-hour strategic meetings annually with the Chairs of OAT, GLC and BOA to provide insight and review progress.
  • Review board and committee papers from the MATs and Trust in advance of relevant meetings.
  • Engage in 2 or 3 meetings with other Members to build experience and understanding of the performance of MATs.
  • Ad hoc input into key governance or leadership matters including trustee recruitment or urgent escalations.

Initial term of appointment is for 2 years, with opportunity to renew for a further 2 to 4 years.
