About Us

Ormiston Trust operates as both a grant-making charity and the founding organisation behind a network of educational and family support institutions that collectively reach tens of thousands of young people across England. As an engaged funder, we don’t simply provide grants but work in active partnership with organisations, offering funding, resources, and ongoing support to improve outcomes for children and families nationwide.

We have founded and continue to support four major organisations, each with their own unique focus and ways of working. Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) stands as one of England’s largest not-for-profit multi-academy trusts, providing comprehensive education with excellent learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. The Gateway Learning Community Trust operates as a multi-academy trust committed to developing active, engaged citizens within diverse and equitable communities. Meanwhile, the Birmingham Ormiston Academy Group offers specialised pathways in performing arts and digital technologies, working alongside industry partners to provide unique educational opportunities for students with specific interests and talents. Finally, Ormiston Families focuses specifically on building family resilience in the East of England, supporting parents and carers to make positive choices that improve their children’s life chances.

In addition to sponsoring the three multi-academy trusts, we also provide grant funding and added-value support for young people, families and schools within and beyond our network.

Over the last 12 months we have been developing our next strategic plan. This has given our sponsorship and grant funding approach a renewed emphasis on outcomes that help young people and families develop essential life skills, strengthen their sense of belonging at school, and support them to become active citizens. Through our work, both young people and families gain confidence, build stronger supportive networks, and engage together in making a meaningful difference to others.

We have significant ambitions, and we hope you’ll consider joining us on our journey.
