AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE CHAIR – PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential knowledge and skills required

The chair of the audit and risk committee must have the following experience.

  • Experience of chairing meetings,
  • In depth experience of risk monitoring and management,
  • Knowledge of auditing and relationships with auditors,
  • Knowledge of the voluntary sector,
  • Understanding of charity governance,
  • Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

We are looking for people who will bring some or all of the following:

  • Experience of chairing meetings,
  • In depth experience of risk monitoring and management,
  • Knowledge of auditing and relationships with auditors,
  • Knowledge of the voluntary sector,
  • Understanding of charity governance,
  • Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion,
  • We are looking for people who will bring some or all of the following,
  • Experience of different risk approaches and measuring the risk appetite of organisations,
  • In depth and demonstrable experience of working with auditors and conducting audits,
  • Experience of overseeing safeguarding and whistleblowing issues and related investigations,
  • Knowledge of data protection,
  • Knowledge of health and safety,
  • Knowledge of overseeing complaints monitoring and management,
  • Knowledge of environmental matters and compliance,
  • Knowledge of membership organisations,
  • Good collaborative skills,
  • Moral courage, personal resilience and being comfortable with challenge,
  • Ability to participate with openness, honesty, integrity and transparency,
  • A commitment to NCVO’s mission and knowledge of the role of the voluntary sector and volunteering,
  • Willingness and ability to meet the minimum time commitment.
