Inequality, climate change, public service reform. The challenges society face are complex and multifaceted, and as the need in communities grow, the impact is felt in the voluntary sector on the front line. To ensure charities are equipped to play their best role, NCVO must continuously evolve and innovate.
This year NCVO will build a new strategy and start a period of transformation. Now, more than ever, we need people with the right ambition, talent and drive to help us unleash our potential, so we can meet the demands of our ever-evolving membership network.
For over 100 years, NCVO has stood shoulder to shoulder with the charity sector, offering capacity building services so that communities across the country get the help and support they need. Alongside training and skills, governance and strategy consultancy, and conference suite hire, we also campaign for a better environment for the voluntary sector. We truly are the charities charity and are always looking for ways to improve what we do.
We have a strong, closely connected, and dynamic executive team. We work together for the benefit of NCVO, our staff, and the sector, modelling empathetic and inclusive leadership while being unafraid to make the right decisions to propel forward our work. We want this energy to flow across all levels, so we create a culture of continuous organisational design, with colleagues energised, excited and embracing of innovation and change, so our customer’s expectations are exceeded. For the charity sector, we want NCVO membership to be a ‘must have’ – a movement they wouldn’t consider not being part of.
This executive director role will lead this change by creating the right environment to drive strategic, technological and cultural transformation at NCVO, so we deliver innovative services and long-term systemic positive impact to our members and the wider voluntary sector over the next decade.
You will join a high performing executive team inspired by a hugely talented board of trustees and supported by values-led colleagues. With the backing of the board and resource ready to invest, you will create a new directorate – the transformation unit – which will deliver key strategic projects that have a demonstrable impact on the organisational culture, growth and capabilities.
By choosing to work for NCVO you not only get to support our mission, but the work we do ripples throughout the whole voluntary sector. The strategic decisions you make, will build our resilience and that of the sector. This is unique to NCVO, and this role is a rare opportunity to have wide-scale positive impact.
