Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in joining our Investment Committee as its new Chair.
We are looking to appoint someone who will provide significant strategic investment leadership and objective advice to support the Board of Trustees, contributing to the long-term financial sustainability of the National Trust.
Founded in 1895, the National Trust protects and cares for places so people and nature can thrive. We look after hundreds of houses and close to a million objects along with vast areas of coastline, countryside and green spaces across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, for everyone’s benefit. With our staff, members, volunteers and supporters, the Trust is the biggest conservation charity in Europe. Everyone can get involved; everyone can make a difference.
Last year alone, we welcomed almost 26 million visitors to our pay‑for‑entry places, invested a record £200 million in conservation, supported 5.3 million members and received over 3 million volunteer hours.
We are proud of what we have achieved for conservation, climate action and nature, and it’s time for a vision that takes us into the future. Our new strategy, launched in 2025 sets out our aims and ambitions for the next decade and beyond, ensuring that we are sustainable, relevant and fit for the 21st century.
Membership and visits to the National Trust remain the foundation of our work and we will continue to push for greater quality, greater enjoyment and more reasons to return. At its core, the strategy has three ambitious goals for 2050 that we’ll work towards over the next decade:
- To restore nature – not just on National Trust land, but everywhere.
- To end unequal access to nature, beauty and history.
- To inspire millions more people to care and take action.
If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, I hope you will be inspired to apply.
