KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an experienced senior leader, with a proven track record of leading an organisation and experience of managing organisational change
  • Have experience of building and managing effective partnerships
  • Have strong financial skills and the ability to understand complex budgetary and financial information
  • Ideally have demonstrable success in fundraising or diversifying income, where relevant to their previous career
  • Have strong strategic and commercial acumen with a successful track record
  • Have demonstrable experience of developing and establishing a strategic plan
  • Have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, allowing them to understand and engage confidently with markedly different and diverse audiences
  • Be a natural ambassador, advocate and networker with a track record of building effective relationships that have benefited their organisation
  • Have proven experience of public speaking and delivering presentations
  • Have a good understanding of how to best utilise all communication channels, including digital and the opportunities it offers, to expand reach and awareness
  • Have an understanding of working with voluntary campaigning, lobbying and policy making organisations
  • Have an understanding of working in the charitable sector and a demonstrable understanding of the issues facing third sector
  • Demonstrate experience of working closely with a Board and a sound knowledge of charity governance
  • Have experience of building relationships with external organisations and developing and managing partnerships /memberships
  • Have experience of successful performance management and appraisal of staff at all levels
  • Have the capacity to understand complex issues and to produce concise reports to a range of audiences
