The Foundation is embarking in a new strategic direction. ‘In a Good Place’ sets out the Foundation’s strategic vision for the next 9 years.

We’ve had 40 years of impact, from helping Childline get off the ground in 1987 to being a frontrunner in organisational development and capacity building, doubling the speed at which the charities we support grow. We’re now ready to scale. And bringing our strengths as an independent charitable foundation alongside the strengths of Lloyds Banking Group is part of how we will make that happen.

Hand in hand with the Group, and with partners new and old, we’re setting out ambitious goals that will increase our impact for communities over the decade ahead: to grow the resources available for communities, and to broaden and deepen our reach.

Our goals are ambitious. As ambitious as the people who we see, day in and day out, leading our communities. Like them, we’ll go after our goals with everything we’ve got.

We know change takes time – that’s why we’re setting out a 9-year strategy. But the need is urgent. Communities are divided. Poverty deepening. Homelessness rising. And fewer people are giving to efforts to change that.

We’re going to back communities, by connecting and catalysing community-led change.

That’s our new mission – and we’ve already started pursuing it.

Board Composition

Our Board comprises 12 Trustees who bring a rich mix of professional backgrounds, lived and learned experience, and deep commitment to people and communities across England and Wales. The Board includes Trustees from Lloyds Banking Group alongside a range of sector, community and leadership perspectives.

Recent annual appraisals have confirmed that the Board is highly engaged, reflective, and committed to continuous learning. Trustees are working collectively to strengthen governance, support the successful implementation of the In a Good Place strategy, and ensure the Foundation adapts confidently to the opportunities and demands of the coming years.

The new Chair will join a Board that is thoughtful, values‑driven and ready to be both supportive and constructively challenging. They will play a pivotal role in enabling the Board to operate at its best: fostering productive relationships, bringing out the strengths of each Trustee, and helping the Board navigate an ambitious and evolving strategic landscape.
