Thank you for your interest in becoming our Chair of Trustees.
Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales has spent 40 years backing communities across England and Wales. In that time, we have invested nearly £1 billion in real terms to organisations. We’ve helped household names like Childline and Changing Faces get off the ground, and have a history of embracing the opportunity to do more for communities, be it becoming a frontrunner in organisational development and capacity building, or investing in long-term place-based systems-change.
We’re now ready to scale. We are now launching a new strategy, In a Good Place, which – hand in hand with Lloyds Banking Group, and with partners new and old – sets out ambitious goals that will increase our impact for communities over the decade ahead: to grow the resources available for communities, and to broaden and deepen our reach.
You will ensure that our oversight and scrutiny arrangements are as strong as possible as we undertake our scale and transformation journey, leading the Board and executive team to respond to new opportunities and risks as they emerge.
The Board is looking for someone with a strong grasp of governance and a clear understanding of what it means to diversify income beyond a single major funder. You will need to understand the Foundation’s core areas of work: income generation, systems change, community practice, and impact, and be able to support delivery across all of them.
Political fluency matters here, as well as partnership orientation and genuine convening power: the ability to open doors, bring the right people into relationship with the Foundation, and operate credibly across sectors and institutions.
If this fits your experience and motivations, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Yours sincerely,
Enver Solomon
Acting Chair
