Person Specification

The Chair should be engaged with, and have a demonstrable record of care for the social impact Khulisa aims to progress. The ability to communicate a compelling sense of purpose to others, and garner further support for Khulisa’s mission from across influential networks, with a focus on potential to raise 5-figure plus donations, is essential. The Chair will bring with them a network of new supporters, who can help drive our ambitious agenda through high-value donor relationship opportunities and/or policy-influencing and other forms of pro bono support which advance our cause.

Khulisa recognises the value of diversity in all its forms at all levels of the organisation. We celebrate its role in the creation of an inclusive workplace culture and thrive on the range of experience and insight diversity brings to our organisation. We want to increase the diversity of our leadership and particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities, Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, LGBT+ and from different socio-economic and educational backgrounds

In addition to the person specification for the chair the following qualities should be demonstrated;

  • Leadership
  • Ability and willingness to broker relationships
  • An fundraising mindset
  • Tact and diplomacy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

What we are looking for

  • A commitment to Khulisa and our work to support young people who experience ill mental health, resulting in social exclusion and high risk endeavour
  • Strategic vision
  • Strong, independent judgement
  • An ability to think creatively
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship (training provided)
  • We value both Chair experience and the fresh view and perspective that comes with not having been a Chair before.
