Leadership and management
Significant experience of working at CEO, Partner or managing or executive director level. Established organisational leader, with deep experience of setting up organisations and managing multidisciplinary teams ensuring a customer-responsive approach while driving collaboration. Strong ability to set strategic vision and direction and the ability to think critically to create strategic solutions to challenging problems.
Commercial acumen
Experience in developing financially sustainable business models, and with an understanding of and responsive to the needs of commercial and publicly funded users. Commercial expertise in setting up services, including overseeing pricing, SLAs, and managing contracts
Delivery capability and decision making
Proven capability developing and delivering business operations at significant scale, with the ability to manage a nine-figure budget and deliver a first-class service. Confident working at pace and through ambiguity.
Organisational establishment
Can demonstrate the required skills for establishment of a successful organisation and the end-to-end mobilisation of service creation and delivery including reporting metrics and continuous improvement. Demonstrable skills in appropriate management of funds whilst developing an innovative and future thinking organisation.
Navigating legal and organisational complexity
Experienced in navigating and influencing legislation, and working within a regulated environment, ensuring ways of working are compliant with relevant legislation, regulation and central government controls.
Technical and research expertise
Strong and well-developed understanding of the needs of research customers across industry and academia. Ideally with expertise in addressing the technical challenges and developing solutions in data and the use of data in research, with strength in leading data programmes and guiding technical experts to build pragmatic solutions.
Collaboration and communication
Highly effective in working and engaging with a diverse range of senior stakeholders across departments and siloes, navigating complex environments with conflicting requirements and influencing without authority.
Security Clearance
An offer of appointment will be conditional on relevant security checks being completed to DHSC’s satisfaction.
Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is SC.
People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks.
