Essential

  • Experience of working in the charity sector in a leadership role.
  • Passionate about putting the patient voice at the heart of the Guts UK and its strategic direction and activities and good understanding of how to support this
  • Excellent communicator able to deliver impactful oral and written communications.
  • Ability to engage and develop excellent working relationships with patients and patient groups, external bodies, stakeholders and business partners.
  • Forward thinking with the ability to demonstrate to sound judgement when making decisions.
  • Proven experience of leading multi-skilled teams in the successful delivery of targets and proven record of delivering services to achieve the desired impact.
  • Ability to think strategically and experience in developing strategy and defining organisational structures with capability to deliver.
  • A track record of working with a trustee board in a leadership capacity, in an open, honest, respectful, structured and transparent manner.
  • Leadership skills developed at a senior level, with the ability to structure, delegate, enthuse, motivate and develop a team.
  • Personal drive and the ability to work with enthusiasm, authentically, empathetically and with integrity, adaptability and care, including implementing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in all activities.
  • Proven track record of securing income in a challenging economic climate, or supporting securing of income or leading or supporting the leading of a financially sustainable organisation.
  • Strong analytical skills – especially the ability to interpret and manage financial data, KPIs, and drive operational improvement efficiencies across the organisation.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the medical research and patient support charity sector in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge or evidence of track record in funding medical research, patient engagement practice and information services.
  • Understanding of digestive disorders and gastroenterology network.
