Welcome

Creativity is within us all; it’s part of our nation’s DNA. But just like a seed, creativity needs nurturing if it’s going to flourish. It requires the right environment where curiosity is cultivated, imagination inspired, and vision valued. By harnessing this ethos, we can change the world for the better.  We are looking for the very special individual who can help us on this mission and I’m excited you are interested in joining us on this journey.

Creative UK is the national network for the creative industries.  Our members include some of the creative sector’s leading brands from TikTok and the BBC to industry bodies such as the Publishers’ Association, UK Music and the British Fashion Council; cultural organisations such as the Design Museum and the Royal Opera House, and small businesses across the breadth and depth of the cultural and creative industries.

Our purpose is to harness the power of the creative industries to build a fairer, more prosperous world and we do this by connecting and championing the sector and by investing in and supporting the ideas, people, entrepreneurs, and businesses that make us who we are as a nation.

We work closely and collaboratively with our partners, advocating for the right policy environment to ensure we have a world where creativity is valued and recognised and working closely to advise governments at the highest levels.  We also offer practical support and investment – we have a venture fund of £24m to support creative businesses who are looking to scale, and we run a host of business growth and talent development programmes with partners across the UK.  Our job is to amplify the voices of our stakeholders and partners to catalyse change. We do this by joining the dots – bringing creative people together, from all disciplines, turning up the volume on their voices, providing a platform for their creative ideas and projects and forging connections.

We recognise and embrace industry shifts and we’re on a journey to harness the energy and army of creative changemakers across the UK.  We represent a broad industry made up of diverse individuals, who have a considerable impact not only on the economy of our country, but how we feel about ourselves as a nation and nations. We build strong and supportive communities where ideas can flow freely and we seek out new talent, new ideas, and new ways of doing things, consistently challenging the status quo – just like the creative sector we stand for.

Representation matters, which is why we seek out diverse voices and stories, as these narratives are integral to the development of our collective work. We know that we’re working with an uneven playing field and we’re here to drive movement towards wider diversity and inclusivity. We all have a part to play in pushing the boundaries of the creative sector.

We have an ambitious plan for growth and are looking for an experienced strategic and commercial leader to join us. You do not need to be an expert in the creative industries, but you do need to be able to identify the challenges and barriers that limit growth and prosperity and substantial experience of building the strategic partnerships that can deliver the change we seek to make.

We are looking forward to meeting the person who might join us in ensuring the creative industries are recognised as the UK’s awesome super-power.

With love

Caroline Norbury, OBE
