Person Specification – Trustee

Essential Experience

  • Experience in a governance, non-executive, or senior advisory role whether as a Trustee, Non-Executive Director, committee member, or equivalent.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the priority skill areas outlined above (skills/education, investment, audit and risk, philanthropy, people/HR, or employer/industry leadership).
  • Commitment to the Foundation’s mission – improving access to skills and employment for those who face the greatest barriers.
  • Understanding of charity governance, or a demonstrated willingness to develop that understanding.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of working with or alongside communities facing disadvantage, including young people, those with convictions, people with disabilities, or those from low-income backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with impact measurement, evaluation, or social investment in the charitable or public sector.
  • Background in workforce development, corporate responsibility, social mobility, or community investment.
  • Experience influencing public policy or leading advocacy-focused organisations.
