BBC Children in Need believes every child should have the chance to thrive and be the best they can be. And we believe that, whatever challenges a child is facing, they should have someone they can turn to for help and support.
That’s why we fund incredible people and projects in communities across the UK, helping children and young people to build the skills, confidence and resilience they need. We act where the need is greatest and work to create positive, lasting change for the children and young people who need us most.
For a child living without enough food, clothing or a bed, that might mean someone who can provide practical help. For a child who is anxious, isolated or grieving, it could be someone qualified to listen and support them. For a teenager growing up in a community affected by inequality, violence or a lack of opportunity, it might be a trusted youth worker or mentor. And for a child living with a serious illness or disability, or carrying a burden that is simply too heavy to manage alone, it means having someone there beside them.
We support children in the communities where they live, funding amazing people in family centres, community spaces, youth clubs, refuges, homeless shelters, hospices and helplines across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Together with the BBC and our partners, we bring people and communities together to help make sure children and young people across the UK have the support and positive relationships they need to thrive.
