Role Description

Purpose of the Role

To lead the organisation and have overall accountability for creating and fulfilling the vision and strategy and delivering effective and customer focused services.

To provide:

  • The overall direction and leadership of Arawak Walton, to ensure successful delivery of the organisational vision, culture and values developed with the Board;
  • The development and implementation of an effective strategy and business plan which is focused on the needs of our customers and communities;
  • An efficient, effective and well-governed organisation ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements;
  • Leadership through transformation and change ensuring that we further develop and embed our identity, ethos and values through our communities and colleagues our relationship with our communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Strategic delivery:
    • Working with the Board and Executive Team to determine the vision and strategy for the future direction of the organisation, ensuring this is supported by a comprehensive strategic framework aligned to Arawak Walton’s values.
    • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of legislation, politics, socio-economic and other factors affecting our work.
    • Establish an effective business planning, risk management and assurance framework.
    • Ensure well-developed performance monitoring, and compliance systems, in order to ensure that the Board can effectively carry out its oversight and governance functions.
    • Ensure that value for money and efficiency are demonstrated in all aspects of our work.
    • Ensure that there are the necessary financial, human, IT, office and other resources required to deliver the Board’s strategy.
    • Ensure a visible, active and effective commitment to health, safety and wellbeing across the organisation.
  2. Leadership
    • Provide effective leadership to the Executive Team and all employees, maximising the full potential of individuals and teams.
    • Champion a culture of learning, development and personal growth, encouraging collaboration across the organisation.
    • Lead on equality, diversity and inclusion, creating an environment where diversity is valued and inequality is addressed.
    • Ensure that residents voices are heard and actioned at all levels of the organisation, creating meaningful opportunities for engagement with a wide range of tenants.
    • Develop effective external networks and partnerships that will add value to and promote Arawak Walton and its work, focusing particularly on key stakeholders.
    • Ensure that Arawak Walton develops and maintains a positive sense of community for its tenants, promoting initiatives and developments that meet local community needs.Maintain the highest standards of conduct, professionalism and integrity.
  3. Governance
    • Advise and support the Chair and the Board in strategic direction and sound governance to achieve regulatory compliance and effective co-regulation, including supporting individual board members in their development.
    • As Company Secretary ensure that the board and committees are effectively serviced and provided with all information required to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
    • Develop, maintain and review a framework of delegated responsibilities and authority.
    • Keep the governance structure under regular review, recommending and implementing change where appropriate.
    • Seek to maintain the regulator’s highest ratings for governance, viability and service standards.

No leadership job description can cover every issue that may arise, and the post holder is expected to be sufficiently flexible to carry out other duties as required from time to time.
