Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the role of Chair of Trustees at WWF-UK. Our current Chair, Sir Dave Lewis, will step down in 2026 and we are looking for someone to continue with the exceptional progress he has made at a critical time for our planet.

We recently launched our next three-year strategy with a focus on the greatest and most immediate threats to nature and the levers that give us the best chance of recovery for vital wildlife and ecosystems.

To deliver that mission, we are prioritising: a move to end global deforestation; UK delivery of its leading net zero and nature recovery commitments; a commitment to protect major landscapes around the world from the Amazon rainforest to the great plains of the Serengeti; and connect the importance of nature with the public. All of this will be underpinned by the rigorous science for which WWF has been known since our foundation, our iconic panda brand and through growing and developing our supporter base and ensuring we continue to strengthen a culture that allows our people to thrive and do their best possible work.

In order to achieve our mission, good governance and clear direction is essential. Our Chair of Trustees plays a pivotal part in applying their skills, experience, knowledge and networks to represent WWF-UK and to ensure it has a secure future and robust governance and is positively engaged with a wide range of national and international stakeholders.

Please find included in this pack a more detailed role description for our Chair of Trustees. I would be very pleased to speak to you about the role in more detail.
