Person Specification – Chief Operating Officer

Technical Skills and Minimum Knowledge:

  • Confidence in developing and executing strategic plans, managing organisational change, leading senior teams and effective decision making.
  • Demonstrable experience in harnessing an organisation’s core assets and orienting these towards mission effectiveness, and building an organisational culture.
  • Strong track record of delivery in at least one area of strategic oversight (finance, income generation, transformation and impact, people and culture) in a similar sized organisation at Director or Executive level.
  • Proven ability to assess and manage strategic risks and embed effective and proportionate controls and mitigations, with an appreciation of how to manage risk in a federated / franchised structure.
  • Proven ability to represent an organisation’s culture and values, and to establish strong relationships, acting as a credible ambassador internally and externally.
  • Strong understanding of issues of workplace equality, diversity and inclusion and safeguarding – with confidence in applying these principles to complex real-world scenarios.

Data Protection

To lead by example and promote a proactive and positive culture of data protection compliance by ensuring they adhere to the Data Protection Principles as laid down in the UK GDPR and UK DPA 2018.  This includes ensuring all projects complete a DPIA at the design and initiation stage and any identified risks are assessed, logged, mitigated, or resolved in consultation with the Data Protection Lead.
