Our name comes from Proverbs 31:8 ‘speak out on behalf of the voiceless, and for the rights of all who are vulnerable’. This call to action shapes everything we do. For nearly half a century, we’ve worked tirelessly to help create safer places for children and adults at risk.
We are an independent Christian safeguarding charity and membership organisation, partnering with a network of over 12,000 organisations nationwide. From churches and charities to schools, businesses and community groups, we provide expert safeguarding advice, training, tools and resources that empower people to prevent abuse and respond well when harm occurs. Safeguarding isn’t just a policy – it’s a culture, and we’re here to help build it.
We’re one of the UK’s leading providers of criminal record checks, with a reach that spans all four nations – and an impact that extends beyond borders. Each year, thousands turn to us for guidance through our 24/7 helpline, specialist case reviews, and consultancy services. Our approach is survivor-centred and trauma-informed, ensuring that those affected by harm are heard, respected, and supported throughout every process. We deliver training that equips leaders, staff, and volunteers with the confidence to create environments where everyone can thrive. From supporting survivors to advising on complex safeguarding issues, we stand alongside those who need us most.
We also raise awareness nationally through campaigns like Safeguarding Sunday and engage with press and media to keep safeguarding on the public agenda. Our voice is heard in Parliament too through our public policy work, where we work to shape legislation and advocate for stronger protections.
