{"id":16,"date":"2022-01-19T14:13:54","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T14:13:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/micro.green-park.co.uk\/southbankcentre\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2026-04-30T14:42:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T13:42:19","slug":"role-profile","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/micro.green-park.co.uk\/southbankcentre\/role-profile\/","title":{"rendered":"Role Profile"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"hero\">\n\t<div class=\"hero__container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"hero__row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"hero__image\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/micro.green-park.co.uk\/southbankcentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2026\/04\/sb-banner-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"sb-banner-3\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"title\">\n\t<div class=\"title__container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"title__row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"title__content\">\n\t\t<h1>\n\t\t  Role Profile\t  <\/h1>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"content\">\n\t<div class=\"content__container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"content__row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content__column\">\n\t\t  \t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Southbank Centre is looking to appoint up to three new Governors to its non-executive Board.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are looking for individuals with sufficient time to commit to the role (around the equivalent of 2days per month), as well as a proven track record in at least one of the following areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Commercial leadership and influence\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Business transformation\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Previous Board experience (as a non-Executive director and\/or Trustee)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Government and policy influence and connectivity<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Southbank has a diverse, multi-talented Board under the Chairmanship of Misan Harriman.\u00a0 The Executive welcomes the active involvement of Governors in supporting initiatives and helping them ensure that the Southbank combines artistic ambition, commercial initiative and good governance.\u00a0 Some members of the Board, at the CEO\u2019s request, have also volunteered to mentor and support individual members of the Executive team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The role of Governor offers individuals the chance to play a significant part in shaping the future of the UK\u2019s largest national cultural institution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Governors are members of Southbank Centre\u2019s governing body with responsibility for:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategy and Direction<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Contributing towards and approving Southbank Centre\u2019s objectives and overall strategic plans, and its artistic, learning and participation, public affairs, marketing, development, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and access strategies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Supporting the Executive team with cultivation of all stakeholders and in particular with key Government departments.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Contributing towards and approving Southbank Centre\u2019s financial plans and strategies, both short- and long-term, cash flow management plans and annual report and accounts, and to review its risk management strategy, including its responsibility for Health and Safety issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Governance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Governors and the Executive manage the oversight of Southbank Centre\u2019s operations through a number of Committees, as well as the Board, including Finance, Audit and Risk; Property, Commercial and Sustainability; and People and Nominations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Approving Southbank Centre\u2019s contracts and verbal commitments with a value in excess of \u00a31,000,000 or having duration in excess of three years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Defining what the Board requires from the Executive in order to discharge its responsibilities, and to monitor the Executive\u2019s performance in that respect.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Setting the terms of reference for and monitoring the performance of the Committees of the Board.
