The core role of our Treasurer is to lead the Trustee oversight of Scope’s financial strategy and performance, as well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee.
Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and wider Executive Team, the Treasurer will ensure that effective financial measures, controls and procedures are in place so that the organisation can financially thrive.
Our Trustees take a wider perspective by guiding and supporting the organisation, as much as providing checks and balances, and collaborating closely with our Executive Team and the wider Board.
We are committed to transforming attitudes to disability, tackling injustice and inspiring action. Our Trustees – past, current and new – lead with values and share our passion to be part of a powerful movement of disabled people, allies, organisations and businesses.
Core responsibilities:
- Chair the Finance Committee to oversee the implementation of Scope’s financial strategy, advising the Board of Trustees in relation to the fulfilment of their responsibilities for the financial wellbeing and propriety of the organisation.
- Alongside the Audit & Risk Committee and Executive Team, the Finance Committee will ensure that adequate financial and accounting policies, procedures, internal controls and risk assessments are in place and that Scope operates within a sound financial framework.
- Work closely with and support the CFO to ensure that the financial information presented to the Board meets the needs of Trustees and enables effective decision making.
- Advise the Board on the financial implications of its strategic plans and policy objectives, and provide pragmatic commercial feedback within the operating environment of a charity.
- Act as a key governance leader for Scope, ensuring that both individual Trustees and the collective Board work in partnership with the Executive Team to deliver the organisation’s vision and strategy and to guard the long-term future of the charity.
- Ensure all major strategic plans are financially appraised and budgets are aligned to both short and long-term objectives.
