About Us
Reclaim Fund Ltd (RFL) operates the UK’s Dormant Assets Scheme. Since 2011, we have been trusted to receive, manage, and distribute dormant asset funds.
We work hand-in-hand with the financial sector, the Government, and The National Lottery Community Fund to create lasting impact across the UK. Together, we use money that would otherwise be lost to help good causes that would otherwise miss out.
But that doesn’t mean account holders are compromised: RFL take on full liability for the funds transferred to us and expertly maintain reserves to refund participants for any customer reclaims – in perpetuity, and with any interest owed.
We are the experts in dormant assets and offer all the support necessary to firms embarking on their journey to participation. With our bespoke support, over sixty financial institutions – from major multinational investment firms to small community-based building societies – are already unlocking the potential of dormant assets.
We are a not-for-profit, Arm’s-Length Body of HM Treasury. The Government’s shareholding is managed by UK Government Investments (UKGI), and we also work closely with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
We are:
- Owned by HM Treasury and regulated by the FCA.
- Self-funded through returns on our investments, with no fees charged to participants and no taxpayer money provided from the Government.

2026 marks our fifteenth year of operation, which we are proud to have marked with an extraordinary distribution of £370.3 million. To date, we have now unlocked over £1.6 billion to more than 2,700 charities and social enterprises across the UK – as well as reuniting over 200,000 dormant accounts with their rightful owners.
Impact of the Scheme
The Dormant Assets Schemes transforms otherwise dormant money into lasting, real-world impact across communities throughout the UK. Since 2011, the Scheme has shown how even small amounts of unclaimed money, when pooled together, can be harnessed to benefit society at scale.
The Scheme distributes funding through The National Lottery Community Fund via expert organisations that focus on different areas of impact, in line with the government’s strategic spend direction. In England, these include Better Society Capital, Access – the Foundation for Social Investment, Fair4All Finance, and Youth Futures Foundation.
The following are just a small sample of social and environmental initiatives that have received dormant assets funding:
- 1625 Independent People works with young people aged 16 to 25 in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, and Bath and North East Somerset. 1625IP provides support to help young people find and sustain their accommodation, as well as providing safe and stable supported housing that is affordable and accessible.
- Reconnections is a service to reduce loneliness and social isolation in Worcestershire, led by Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Reconnections works with local partners that cater for everyone, from befriending to boules, lunch clubs to libraries, pubs to pets! They are supported by volunteers, whose commitment, friendliness, and energy – not to mention huge enthusiasm – make the service what it is.
- Beat is the UK’s leading eating disorder charity. Since 1989, they have been providing support to people suffering from eating disorders, their friends and families, and other caregivers, and working to raise awareness and understanding of these serious mental illnesses.
