Role Description – Director of Finance and Operations

Salary: £70000 – £75,000 dependent on experience
Hours: This is a full-time position
Location: Based at Power the Fights London office
Line management of: Operations Manager & Finance staff including consultants

Overview

This role will oversee all financial and operational aspects of the organisation, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and strategic growth. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Finance and Operations will play a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s financial sustainability and operational excellence.

 

Main Responsibilities

Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and policies to support the organisation’s objectives.
  • Responsible for all budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy and transparency.
  • Responsible for all day to day organisational finances.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk effectively.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, providing timely insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial best practices. Responsible for arranging and managing the annual financial audit.

Operational Oversight:

  • Lead the operational functions of the organisation, including procurement, facilities management, and IT.
  • Oversee the develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drive the operations team to continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and reduce costs.
  • Responsible for the negotiation of contracts with partner organisation, including statutory providers.
  • Responsible for ensuring all HR related matters are dealt with effectively, within best practise and legislation.
  • Be the Data Protection Officer for the organisation.
  • Ensure the team are in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategic plans and objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, expansion, and diversification, assessing their financial viability and impact.
  • Participate in strategic partnerships, alliances, and negotiations as needed.
  • Alongside the CEO be involved in projects as and when they arise.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruitment, retention, and professional development efforts.
