Our Ambition

Where we are and where we want to be

The future of the charity must be defined by a simple but uncompromising principle: people with Parkinson’s at the centre of everything. Every decision, every investment, every partnership should begin with one question — will this fundamentally change the lives of people living with Parkinson’s? The opportunity ahead is not incremental improvement, but transformation. Research is beginning to unlock new possibilities, and our ambition and articulation must match the scale of that moment. We want to be clearer, sharper and more deliberate about what we are trying to solve — from understanding the causes of Parkinson’s to accelerating drug discovery and targeting the breakthroughs that matter most.

As we go into the next phase of our strategy we will be developing a bold, clearly defined “North Star”. This clarity will not only sharpen priorities but inspire our community, supporters, clinicians and researchers alike to rally behind a shared outcome. Parkinson’s UK has solid foundations; now to achieve what we need we must grow in order to move forward with focus and courage.

At the same time, being truly people-centred means addressing the gaps currently left untouched. There are still massive disparities in reach — those who are connected to us benefit, while too many others receive little or no support at diagnosis. We need to continue to strengthen and broaden the activities and services we offer to ensure they are relevant, accessible and equitable.

This next chapter requires long-term thinking over short-term wins. To deliver on our ambition, the charity will likely need to double in scale — in capability, in funding, and in influence. Growth is not about size for its own sake; it is about building the strength required to be relentless. With focus, clarity and courage, we can move from supporting people to reshaping the future of Parkinson’s entirely.
