About Us

It all started with Mali Jenkins. Mali’s sister, Sarah, had Parkinson’s. When Mali looked for information about the condition, she didn’t find anything helpful. But she didn’t give up. Mali reached out to others living with Parkinson’s to share experiences. It was the beginning of our journey!

Over 50 years later, we haven’t stopped. Today, we’re a united movement of people living and caring for people with Parkinson’s across the UK. Together we share one mission: to make life with Parkinson’s better, today.

We will find a cure! We’re the leading European funder of Parkinson’s research and have invested over £130m in vital research that has delivered groundbreaking discoveries, new medications and better care. We’re hunting down the causes of Parkinson’s and taking a bold and innovative approach to discovering new therapies, translating promising ideas into new treatments as quickly as possible.

But it’s not all we’re doing. Campaigning for better health and care services. Funding research into groundbreaking new treatments. Building strong, supportive communities.

  • We campaign for better services and support for people with Parkinson’s, harnessing the power of our amazing volunteer campaigners, who bring their experience of Parkinson’s in front of politicians and NHS leaders.
  • We bring together health and social care professionals to improve Parkinson’s care through the Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network and are proud to have seed funded over 500 Parkinson’s nurses, who provide vital care and support in hospital and in the community.
  • We offer friendship and peer support to people affected by Parkinson’s, whether that’s through our 465 volunteer-led groups, our expert local advisers or our online forum.
  • We guide everyone through life with Parkinson’s, offering invaluable information via our website and confidential support via our Helpline, from the moment first symptoms appear.
