In the UK, around 7,500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year – Unfortunately, ovarian cancer is often diagnosed at a later stage when survival is at its lowest. Ovarian Cancer Action is committed to funding the research that saves lives by attacking the problem at every level; from developing better treatments so women with the disease can live longer, to developing a screening tool to ensure it is caught in its earliest stage. The statistics in the following link are shocking but they are ones that we hope – with your help – we will be able to change.

Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre is one of the largest clusters of ovarian cancer research in Europe. Take a look at the challenges we face, the research projects we’re funding, why we believe they will change the future for women with ovarian cancer. The Centre, led by Professor Iain McNeish and Professor Christina Fotopoulou, is the focal point for developing more effective treatments and leading the way in promoting clinical excellence around the country. Our funded researchers at the Centre are working hard to tackle the hardest challenges in ovarian cancer research. And our pilot grants will enable us to bring expertise from all corners of the University.

The Helene Harris Memorial Trust International Forum on Ovarian Cancer – Sometimes shortened to ‘HHMT’ in the scientific community – is a conference organised by Ovarian Cancer Action. Every four years, we bring together the world’s leading ovarian cancer experts to discuss and debate what we need to do to make ovarian cancer a survivable disease. By collaborating on an international scale, we’ll reach our goals quicker. The 15th HHMT International Forum on Ovarian Cancer is taking take place in October 2024, bringing together leading ovarian cancer researchers from across the globe.
