The position has an honorarium of £15,850 per year. Where necessary, reasonable domestic travel expenses will also be reimbursed.
The appointment is for a term of five years. This could be renewed twice for two successive two year terms (up to a maximum of 9 years in total).
We would ideally like the new Chair to join us early in 2027 to attend the March, May and July board meetings, if possible, to develop their knowledge and understanding of the organisation before taking over the role of Chair in September. (Attendance at these meeting is not essential, if current commitments would preclude some of these).
Time Commitment
The estimated time commitment (of up to 24 days) is considered to be realistic for this role and at the upper end of the anticipated requirement, but flexibility will be necessary to contribute up to this amount over the course of the year.
There are currently 5 full Trustee meetings per year. In addition the Chair will normally serve on a number of sub committees currently including Investments and Staff, Nominations and Remuneration, as well as ad hoc meetings as required. There is a strong preference for in person meetings, but some sub committees and other meetings could be attended virtually when needed. Candidates must be UK-based.
Currently the Trustee meetings are scheduled for February or March, May, July, October and November each year.
The full Board usually meets around 5 times each year. Dates for meetings in 2027 are:
- Friday 19th March
- Friday 26th May
- Friday 23rd July
- Friday 8th October
- Friday 3rd December
