{"id":58,"date":"2024-05-31T15:32:06","date_gmt":"2024-05-31T14:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/micro.green-park.co.uk\/metpol\/?page_id=58"},"modified":"2024-06-05T15:07:36","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T14:07:36","slug":"58-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/micro.green-park.co.uk\/metpol\/58-2\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"hero\">\n\t<div class=\"hero__container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"hero__row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"hero__image\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/micro.green-park.co.uk\/metpol\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/333\/2024\/05\/banner1.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"banner1\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"title\">\n\t<div class=\"title__container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"title__row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"title__content\">\n\t\t<h1>\n\t\t  A New Met for London\t  <\/h1>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"content\">\n\t<div class=\"content__container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"content__row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content__column\">\n\t\t  \t\t\t\t<h3><strong>What it means for Londoners<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A New Met for London is our commitment to you, and it sets out three priorities for reform:<a name=\"_Toc166757014\"><\/a><\/p>\n<section class=\"content\">\n<div class=\"content__container\">\n<div class=\"content__row\">\n<div class=\"content__column\">\n<h3><strong>Community crime-fighting \u2013 working with Londoners to keep them safe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with communities to fight crime and anti-social behaviour, because Londoners have told us that\u2019s a priority.<\/li>\n<li>Recruit an additional 500 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).<\/li>\n<li>Put more officers and PCSOs into local neighbourhoods and make sure they\u2019re delivering against the priorities of Londoners.<\/li>\n<li>Use data to better understand the demands we face and deploy officers to where we\u2019ll make the biggest difference to communities.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen specialist teams, with an extra 565 people who will work closely with local police teams and partners on investigating domestic abuse, sexual offences, and child sexual abuse and exploitation.<\/li>\n<li>Make it easier to contact us, whether by phone, digitally or face to face \u2013 each borough will have at least one 24\/7 front counter.<\/li>\n<li>Continue to improve our 999 service so your calls get answered more quickly.<\/li>\n<li>Continue to work with our partners to ensure individuals in need of care and non-crime help get supported by the right agency, freeing up officers\u2019 time to tackle crime.<\/li>\n<li>We will create a Victim Focus Desk to provide better support and advice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2. Culture change &#8211; embedding the values of policing by consent<\/h3>\n<p>We will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build a strong culture focused on delivering for London, maintaining high standards and better reflecting the diversity of the city we serve.<\/li>\n<li>Become a police service that doesn\u2019t discriminate \u2013 tackling racism, misogyny and homophobia.<\/li>\n<li>Deal with discrimination wherever we find it, ensuring all cases are robustly dealt with.<\/li>\n<li>Take a more precise approach to the use of force and stop and search and carry out regular reviews to make sure we use these tactics properly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>3. Fixing our foundations \u2013 setting the Met up to succeed<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ll better serve London by organising and deploying our people better, giving them the training, equipment, and data and technology they need to use their powers precisely and cut crime. We\u2019ll also develop the outstanding and diverse leaders we need to deliver the reform ahead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our people care about delivering More Trust, Less Crime and High Standards to keep London safe \u2013 we ask you to collaborate with us as we reform.
