Terms of Appointment

Contract

Internal and External – Candidates would be appointed on a permanent contract.

Secondment – Candidates from other forces/government departments may wish to be appointed on a secondment basis. The role will be offered on secondment for a period of a maximum of five years. You must seek advice from your Police Force or Home Organisation on their policy on secondments before submitting any application as the successful applicant would need to be able to commit to the full five year placement duration.

Salary

All salaries are subject to Remuneration Committee approval

External candidate:

The role will attract a salary in the range of £120,000 – £150,000 depending on the strength of job related skills and knowledge. Salary on appointment will require prior approval by the Remuneration Committee.

Internal Candidate:

Starting salary for the role would be set at either:

  • If you are in a pay band below BB2a: 10% higher than the value of current substantive total package (i.e. including any service related pay and location allowance), as long as this did not take it above the BB2a target rate.

or

  • The value of current substantive total package (subject to Remuneration Committee approval), if it is already above the BB2a target rate.

Please be aware that salary is subject to Remuneration Committee approval and that location allowances and service related payments do not operate at the BB levels and would therefore be consolidated into starting salary.

Place of work and hours

Your place of work will be London, SE1 and other sites across London. The Met offers hybrid working options. However, it should be noted that you will need to work closely with Assistant Commissioner Met Operations and Performance, peers and stakeholders in person for some of the working week. Flexibility can be discussed with the preferred candidate to reach a mutually acceptable approach.

Hours

You will be contracted for 36 hours per week, however you may be asked to work hours necessary to fulfil your duties and meet the demand of the policing service.
