It sets out our commitment to supporting people with a learning disability to live their lives to the full. It is a strategy rooted in equality, belonging and impact \u2014 and one that recognises the importance of being a strong, resilient and well\u2011run organisation if we are to deliver lasting change.<\/p>\n<p>Our Board of Trustees plays a central role in this. Trustees provide leadership, strategic oversight, support and robust challenge. They are committed to ensuring that Mencap remains financially sustainable, well governed and focused on what matters most to people with a learning disability and their families.<\/p>\n<p>As we deliver our new strategy, we want to appoint an experienced professional to join our Trustee Board and take on the role of <strong>Chair of our Audit, Finance and Risk Committee<\/strong>. As our outgoing Chair concludes his term, we are looking to appoint a successor with strong expertise in finance, audit and risk management within an organisation which has a strong purpose and clear values.<\/p>\n<p>In chairing our <strong>Audit, Finance and Risk Committee<\/strong>, you will provide leadership and oversight across financial reporting, audit, risk management and internal control. Working closely with the Executive team, auditors and fellow trustees, you will help ensure that the Board has clear assurance on Mencap\u2019s financial sustainability, risk profile and control environment. This role will be particularly suited to a senior finance professional who brings sound judgement, credibility and a deep understanding of assurance, controls and proportionate risk taking \u2013 and who are motivated to apply their expertise in a purpose-driven context. Your contribution will be vital in helping the Board provide confidence that Mencap is run well \u2014 with the right systems, resources and governance in place to support our strategic ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>Equally important is a strong alignment with our values. We are passionate, inclusive, brave, positive and kind. We expect our trustees to champion these values in how they lead, challenge and support the organisation.
